I lost my contacts after separating them into folders in Microsoft outlook windows 7

I separated my contacts from my iCloud account in Microsoft outlook into work contacts and business contacts.

The number of items were shown in each folder showing that they had been transferred to the folder correctly. The next time I turned on the computer these 2 folders were empty and I lost over 400 contacts, mainly phone numbers only. Is there a way I can retrieve them?
