Samsung show off a whole range of Galaxy S III accessories

Android Central

Everyone likes accessories, right? At tonight's Unpacked event in London, Samsung unveiled a whole heap of official accessories for the Galaxy S III. From cases, to docks and even a "Pebble."

So the Pebble isn't just a Pebble. It's basically an updated version of the old Pebble MP3 players Samsung used to sell. Covered in the "Hyperglaze" finish as with the phone, it's designed purely as an accessory to the Galaxy S III. It has 4GB of internal storage, and one use case is taking it out on a run to listen to your music, without the need to take your new, expensive Galaxy S III with you.

Cases are cases, and it's hard to get excited about them. But we've got them nonetheless. There's a selection of hard shell and leather flip cases available to protect your shiny new Galaxy.

There's a few different docks available too. As you would expect, there's an official Car Dock which is basically an official Samsung branded cradle. No contact less charging on the Galaxy S III. The desktop is also taken care of, with a Desktop Dock and a simple battery charging stand.

Samsung are also offering up their own, branded HDTV adaptor which is pretty much a standard MHL adaptor. There's also a pretty cool sounding wireless charger, which didn't seem to be out on show.

We've got a few shots of what was out on show for you after the break.

<P>Think you know what to expect from <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a>'s <a href="/news/articles/1684156/justin-bieber-boyfriend-music-video-premiere-thursday.jhtml">"Boyfriend" video</a>, which debuts on MTV tonight? Well, in case you haven't been keeping track of all the details, MTV News has compiled a handy-dandy cheat sheet to get you in the know before the video drops.</P><P>From the song's recording to the video's shoot, we have the inside scoop on the making of "Boyfriend" from the people who helped create it.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="MTV First: Justin Bieber" id="id:1684329" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P><b>The Track</b><br> For the lead single off <i>Believe,</i> Bieber hit the studio with Mike Posner and Mason Levy. Posner shared with us that Bieber had some <a href="/news/articles/1684292/justin-bieber-boyfriend-mike-posner-sessions.jhtml">killer instincts in the studio</a>. "Justin's super hands-on with his music," he explained. "He comes up with amazing melodies &#8212; that's what I was most impressed by. We'd put on a beat or something, and he goes into a booth, and he freestyles these melodies, and they're crazy."</P><P><b>Swag Without Fondue</b><br> Leading up to the release of the video, Bieber made it clear that it wasn't going to play into the song's lyrics literally. Although he makes mention of <a href="/news/articles/1683042/justin-bieber-boyfriend-buzz-lightyear.jhtml">fondue and Buzz Lightyear</a> in the song, he shared with MTV News that both visuals were left on the cutting room floor. "No, no, I won't be dressed up as Buzz Lightyear," he said. "I think there's some copyright issues. I can't use that."</P><P><b>The Video's Locale</b><br> Bieber took over a <a href="/news/articles/1683642/justin-bieber-boyfriend-music-video-kiss.jhtml">Los Angeles rooftop</a> in late March to shoot the lead video off his <i>Believe</i> album. In photos leaked from the set, Bieber was seen riding in muscle cars and chilling with an exotic-looking brunette, all under the watchful eye of his girlfriend, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/gomez__selena/artist.jhtml">Selena Gomez</a>.</P><P><b>The Video's Concept and Co-Star</b><br> Judging from the <a href="/news/articles/1684318/justin-bieber-boyfriend-video-sneak-peek.jhtml">tease</a>, the video's all about a big rooftop party filled with good vibes. During the celebration, Bieber gets cozy with a girl that happens to look a bit like Gomez. "You know, I guess Justin has a type that he likes, so hey, you know, there you go," the video's director, <a href="/news/articles/1684332/justin-bieber-boyfriend-video-director.jhtml">Director X</a>, tells MTV News about the casting.</P><P>Want more behind-the-scenes scoop from Bieber himself? The singer will sit down with MTV News' Sway Calloway on Thursday to premiere his "Boyfriend" music video during "MTV First: Justin Bieber" live at 7:50 p.m. ET on MTV. After the video premieres on air, Bieber will chat with Sway for 30 minutes on MTV.com, opening up about the clip as well as his June 19 album release, <i>Believe.</i> But that's not all: If you have a burning question for Bieber, you can get in on the fun by commenting below or tweeting @MTVNews with the hashtag #MTVFirst or #AskBieber.</P><P>Immediately following the premiere, the "Boyfriend" video will be available on MTV.com, so Beliebers can watch it over and over and over again.</P><P><b>Don't miss the "Boyfriend" video premiere tonight at 7:50 p.m. ET/PT on MTV during "MTV First: Justin Bieber," followed by a live Q&A with Justin himself on MTV.com!</b></P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Justin Bieber Explains How The 'Boyfriend' Video Reflects The 'Believe' Era" id="vid:757407.id:1682760" width="415" height="255"></div><p></p>

Foxconn builds a fanless nano PC, forgets to put someone else's name on it

Two nano PCs, actually, and both expected to be announced officially this week according to FanlessTech. The first is the Foxconn AT-5300, running off a 2.13GHz dual-core Cedar Trail D2700, while the second -- the AT-5600 -- is powered by AMD's popular (but last-gen) 1.65GHz E450 APU. Each one consumes around 15W idle and 24W under load, which is the equivalent of somewhere between an Ultrabook and a regular laptop and low enough to be passively cooled. What's distinctly unlaptop-like, though, is the 190 x 135 x 38mm form factor, which should sit discreetly on your desk, below your TV or on a VESA mount, and also the price, which is expected to be under $200 with worldwide availability. As with similar mini-ATX budget barebones, you'll need to add your own HDD (or maybe a hybrid) to that, but you do get a pair of USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit LAN, a multilingual card reader and built-in 802.11n WiFi. The only thing missing? You guessed it.

BlackBerry Curve 9220 hands-on

BlackBerry Curve 9220 hands-on

We're just beginning our sojourn through this year's BlackBerry World, and we've already found a rare gem that may not get a lot of face time here in the States: the Curve 9220. This little 3G-less beaut takes advantage of BlackBerry OS 7.1, but it isn't going to attract the spec-hungry folk -- it packs a 2MP camera and features a 2.4-inch non-touch display with 320 x 240 resolution. It very well may, however, gain the favor of anyone looking for a budget-friendly BBM device. Seeing as this is the phone's major selling point, we made sure to take a few minutes to play with its keyboard. Compared to the QWERTY-laden legends that have graced BlackBerry devices for years (the Bold 9900 and Tour come to mind), the 9220's keyboard has some big shoes to fill, but unfortunately you won't be blessed with the same kind of experience that you'd have when using one of its elder brothers. Due to the phone's petite size, the individual keys -- arranged in standalone formation and without frets -- are a bit cramped and felt a little too slick for our taste. Of course, this isn't poised to be the latest and greatest that Waterloo has to offer, but for the low price of 10,990 rupees (about $210), it's still a pretty sweet deal for messaging lovers on a shoestring budget. Head below to view the phone from every angle.

My whole life is a hack: how Geohot owned the iPhone, PS3 and inadvertently rallied hacktivists

My whole life is a hack: how Geohot owned the iPhone, PS3 and inadvertently inspired LulzSec

George Hotz is no stranger 'round these parts. Better known as Geohot, he first achieved internet fame at the age of 17 with his announcement of a hardware unlock method for the original iPhone. From there, he moved on to even greater notoriety with a PlayStation 3 exploit that quickly attracted the ire -- and legal wrath -- of Sony. Now profiled in The New Yorker, we're given a candid and unique insight into the world of George Hotz, whereby his own admission, he wasn't motivated by an ideology so much as boredom and the desire to control a system. The freedom issues, it seems, were merely an afterthought.

George Hotz is unique. We're talking about someone who was programming by age five, building video game consoles by the 5th grade and making appearances on NBC's Today at age fourteen. Like many brilliant adolescents, he experimented with drugs and rebelled against authority. Eventually, the powers that be caught up with him, and George Hotz was sued by Sony on January 11th, 2011. The lawsuit drew the attention of malicious hacker groups such as Anonymous and LulzSec, which retaliated against the company in very public ways. However unintentional, Geohot became the poster child for hacktivists and inspired a movement that quickly grew out of control -- if only more of us could be so productive with our boredom. For an insightful read into one of the most influential hackers of our time, be sure to hit the source link below.

Amazon Studios expands into TV series, looks to load up on content for streaming

Amazon Studios expands into TV series, looks to load up on content for streaming

Amazon has had a content development division for some time but today it's announced plans to expand from just movies to developing (and distributing, via its Instant Video service) original comedy and children's series. The new focus follows the competition like Netflix and Hulu which have both dived headlong into developing original TV show-style content that mirrors the content consumers seem to gravitate towards on streaming services. According to the press release Amazon Studios is willing to option one "promising project" per month for $10k and pay $55k to a creator if their series is selected for distribution. Submissions of 22-minute pilot scripts for comedies and 11-minute pilot scripts for children's shows are being accepted, which Amazon will either option within 45 days or the creator can choose between pulling it back and leaving it up for community feedback. There's more info at the site or in the press release after the break, but just remember: if we see any series picked up about dashingly handsome tech bloggers and the fast-paced lives they lead, we're coming for our cut.
